In today’s climate, you want to make sure you get the right vehicle that’s right for you. Admittedly, that can be a little tough with the wealth of options out there. We here at Northside Honda have put together a comparison between the Honda Civic and Toyota Camry to help make your decision.

When deciding between vehicles, the first place you look is the engine. Without the desired horsepower, how are you going to make it to your next destination?
The Honda Civic comes standard with a 2.0L i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine that can produce up to 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. This engine and the continuously variable transmission provide an EPA-estimated 30 city and 38 highway MPG.1
Looking at the Toyota Camry, we find a different beast. It starts with its standardly equipped 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This is all bolstered by an 8-speed automatic transmission. In terms of fuel efficiency, it receives an EPA-estimated 28 city and 39 highway MPG.
When equipped with their base powertrains, the Civic and Camry receive similar fuel economy ratings.
When you climb into either vehicle, you can expect an accommodating cabin. A feature they share is the customization that comes with a standard fold-down rear seatback, allowing for more cargo space.
Both the Civic and Camry provide ample interior dimensions. In the Civic, you get 39.3 inches of front-row headroom and 42.3 inches of front legroom. Additionally, you’ll get 15.1 cubic feet of cargo room in the trunk.
Turning our attention to the Toyota Camry, you’ll find some differences. It provides 38.3 inches of front headroom and 42.1 inches of front legroom. Both dimensions fall short of the Civic.
Again, we see that although these vehicles are similar in some regards, the Civic has a sizable advantage in some areas.
In terms of infotainment features, the Camry and Civic are once again similar. The Camry comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen and six speakers. Meanwhile, in the Civic, a 5-inch screen and four speakers come in the base trim. However, you can upgrade to a 10-speaker premium audio system, which is one more speaker than the Camry makes available.
Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® integration are offered in both vehicles. A feature that helps the Civic pull ahead is available HondaLink®. This app allows you to start your vehicle’s engine remotely, receive notifications, and schedule service appointments.
