Looking for a family-friendly minivan to elevate your San Antonio, Schertz, and Alamo Heights, Texas, commutes? There are many available on the market, but two that stand out for their features and performance are the Honda Odyssey and the Kia Sedona. However, which one is right for your family?
At Northside Honda, we want you to drive only the best car for you and your family. To help you decide, we’ve created this 2021 Honda Odyssey vs. Kia Sedona comparison. Read on to find out what each model has to offer and choose your favorite today!
Your minivan needs to keep up with the hectic demands you and your family throw its way. Luckily, the Honda Odyssey pulls through with its 3.5L V6 engine. Giving you 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, you’ll have the robust performance needed to get to where you need to go.
The Sedona, on the other hand, features a 3.3L V6 engine. It is powerful, but it only generates 276 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque, leaving you with less oomph on the streets.
The Odyssey engine is also paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Not only does this provide seamless handling, but it also helps the Odyssey achieve an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 19 city/28 highway/22 combined MPG across all trim levels.*
Due to the fewer gears in the 8-speed automatic transmission found in the Kia Sedona, you won’t get quite a robust fuel economy. It comes in at an EPA-estimated 18 city/24 highway/21 highway MPG.
With a large group in tow, you’ll need ample space for you, your family, and everything you’re bringing along. With seating for up to eight as well as ample cargo room, both the 2021 Odyssey and Sedona are ready for whatever you have to pack inside.
In the Odyssey, this translates to a generous cargo room of 38.6 cubic feet when the seats are all upright. Use this space to pack up luggage, groceries, and the kid’s extra-curricular supplies—musical instruments, sporting equipment, you name it!
Unfortunately, the standard cargo space of the Sedona is a bit smaller. When all the rows are upright, the cargo volume comes to 33.9 cubic feet, limiting what you can bring along. This theme also continues when you fold down the seats.

Both the Odyssey and Sedona minivans are great for traveling with your family around the San Antonio, Schertz, and Alamo Heights, TX, areas. However, with more power under the hood, a higher fuel economy, and ample interior space, we think you’re going to love the Honda Odyssey even more.
